Napoli are on a four-match unbeaten streak in Serie A and go into matchday 34 with hopes of qualifying for next season’s Champions League high.
The Partenopei are third in Serie A on 66 points and are level with Juventus and AC Milan. The three teams are fighting for the final two Champions League qualification places.
A win against relegation-threatened Cagliari could improve their hopes of making the Champions League for 2021-22.
Cagliari are 17th in the league going into the weekend. The Islanders are level on 31 points with Torino and Benevento. They sit outside the bottom three thanks to a better head-to-head record against Benevento.
Napoli have won back-to-back games against Cagliari in Serie A. They outscored the Islanders 5-1 during that time period.
The Partenopei scored a 4-1 win against Cagliari earlier this season. Piotr Zielinski scored in the first half to put Napoli up 1-0 at halftime.
The teams exploded for goals in the second period as Zielinski scored a second and Hirving Lozano and Lorenzo Insigne found the back of the net too.
Cagliari’s Joao Pedro scored the team’s only strike. Cagliari’s Charalambos Lykogiannis was sent off in the second half thanks to two yellow cards.

Gennaro Gattuso could have goalkeeper David Ospina fully fit for the game. Ospina is recovering from a hamstring injury. Midfielder Faouzi Ghoulam is still suffering from a knee injury. He could return to the team for the game.
Semplici has three names on the Cagliari injury and suspension list for the weekend. Forwards Riccardo Sottil is a doubt due to a back injury. Gaston Pereiro is a doubt after testing positive for COVID-19. Meanwhile, midfielder Razvan Marin is suspended for the match.
Nine of the last 10 matches between Napoli and Cagliari in Serie A finished with the former claiming wins. Gattuso’s side should claim another victory over the Islanders and strengthen their chances of qualifying for the Champions League next season.
The Partenopei should win with over 2.5 goals scored and both teams scoring – just like in the reverse fixture played earlier this season.
