Real Madrid claimed a narrow 1-0 win away at Real Valladolid last weekend and did just enough in midweek to beat 10-man Atalanta in the 1st leg of their Champions League tie.

Real Sociedad thrashed Alaves 4-0 in their last La Liga game but couldn’t overturn their 4-goal deficit against Manchester United in midweek, drawing 0-0 at Old Trafford.

Real Sociedad haven’t done too badly against Real Madrid in recent seasons, with each team claiming three wins and a draw from their last seven encounters in all competitions.

Barring their last meeting, these two sides have tended to produce plenty of goals over the last couple of years, with five of their last seven fixtures seeing both teams score and over 2.5 goals.

The hosts head into this one as the clear form favourites with five wins and one defeat from their last six outings in league and cup.

Real Sociedad, who lead La Liga for a short time, have lost one, drawn two and won three of their last six fixtures, but now sit 5th in the table. Real Madrid currently occupy 2nd spot in La Liga, 11pts clear of Real Sociedad.

Real have managed to keep clean sheets in each of their last four outings but are likely to be tested at the back by Isak and Oyarzabal who have scored 22 league goals between them for Sociedad this season.

Four of the visitor’s last seven matches have produced over 2.5 goals and as mentioned above, Sociedad scored four times in their last La Liga game against Alaves.

The hosts could well be without Eden Hazard, Daniel Carvajal, Marcelo, Éder Militão, Sergio Ramos, Álvaro Odriozola, Federico Valverde and Rodrygo for Monday’s match, as each is struggling with an injury.

Real Sociedad have a long injury list as well, which includes Gaizka Ayesa, Aritz Elustondo, Joseba Zaldúa, Fernández Luna, Miguel Angel Moya, Jon Pacheco, Miguel Angel Moya, Alex Sola and Luca Sangalli.

Real Madrid have form in their favour as well as the home advantage on Monday night, so the smart money is going on a home win. The goals are also expected to flow on Monday, so don’t be surprised to see both teams score and over 2.5 goals in this one.
