Manchester United to complete PL double over Newcastle United
3543

Manchester United have watched the Premier League title slip away in recent weeks. The Red Devils are winless in four of their last five matches, losing once and drawing three times.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team are 10 points back of Manchester City going into matchday 25. The good news for the manager is that Manchester United thrashed Real Sociedad 3-0 in the Europe League.

Newcastle United are in a relegation fight as they are just six points above Fulham. With Fulham playing bottom of the table club Sheffield United on Saturday night, the Magpies could kick off on Sunday with just three points separating them from the Cottagers.

Manchester United went to St. James’ Park in October and thrashed Newcastle United 4-1. Luke Shaw’s own goal gave Newcastle United the lead in the second minute. From there, the Red Devils scored four unanswered goals as Harry Maguire, Bruno Fernandes, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and Marcus Rashford found the back of the net.

Solskjaer’s injury list is growing at Old Trafford ahead of the weekend fixture. Paul Pogba is still out with a muscle injury and isn’t due back until early March. Edinson Cavani is nearing full fitness and may play a role in the game on Sunday.

Donny van de Beek is also nearing a fitness return as is Scott McTominay. Both could play on Sunday as they each get over a knock.

Steve Bruce is without star striker Callum Wilson. The goalscorer has a thigh injury keeping him out until April. Jeff Hendricks is suspended for the game due to an accumulation of yellow cards.

Federico Fernandez could be passed fit to play following a muscle issue. Meanwhile, Javi Manquillo and Fabian Schar are currently ruled out of the game.

Manchester United have won their last two games in the league versus Newcastle United by 4-1 scorelines. The Red Devils may be struggling to win in the league currently, but the Magpies’ terrible form should allow them to get a win at home.

The Red Devils are unbeaten in their last five home matches in the league. Newcastle United have lost five of their last six away games. Solskjaer’s side should get a home win versus the Magpies, heaping problems onto Bruce and potentially sending them closer to the relegation zone.

Manchester United should once again see over 2.5 goals scored against Newcastle United as both sides find the back of the net for the third straight Premier League meeting.
