La Liga leaders Atletico Madrid host Sevilla at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium on Tuesday night. Diego Simeone’s team had their weekend fixture versus Athletic Bilbao postponed due to a snowstorm that prevented the Basque club from travelling.

Now, Atletico Madrid have three games in hand over the competition and are one point above city rival Real Madrid. If they can cash-in those games in hand with victories, Atletico Madrid should win the La Liga title.

Sevilla are sixth in the division and head into the midweek fixture unbeaten in six straight games. Los Rojiblancos claimed a win at the weekend versus top-six rival Real Sociedad, 3-2.

The victory moved Sevilla closer to the top four and the Champions League qualification places.

Julen Lopetegui’s team are just two points off of the top four. A win versus Atletico Madrid would put them in the Champions League qualification places.

Sevilla have thrown spanners in the works for Atletico Madrid over the course of their last four matches. The two teams have drawn four straight games with both teams scoring in each and three of the four seeing under 2.5 goals tallied.

Atletico Madrid are unbeaten in eight home matches this season posting 22 points from 24 possible. Simeone’s team have allowed a mere two goals while scoring 19 times.

Sevilla took 14 points from 24 on offer on the road the season. Goals have been a struggle for Sevilla’s attack. They scored nine goals in eight road matches. Los Rojiblancos allowed six goals to opponents away from the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium.

The Seville club are on a four-match unbeaten streak, winning three times and drawing once in those four fixtures. Atletico Madrid have not defeated Sevilla in Madrid since the 2017-18 season.

Sevilla have posted a 1W-2D-0L record over the course of their last three matches at the Wanda Stadium.

Simeone will be without defender Stefan Savic due to a suspension. Hector Herrera could return to the team in time for the match after suffering a thigh injury.

Lopetegui has several players on the injury and suspension list for the midweek match. Fernando will miss the fixture due to red-card suspension. Jesus Navas and Sergio Escudero are both ruled out through muscle injuries and won’t return until February.

The manager could get Tomas Vaclik and Carlos Fernandez Luna back for the game. The duo could be fit for the squad.

Sevilla should struggle away to get goals. They have scored nine in eight games this term. Atletico Madrid have allowed a mere two goals to opponents and should keep Tuesday night’s match low scoring.

Atletico Madrid should claim a win with under 2.5 goals scored. Three of Los Colchoneros’ last six games ended in wins to nil and they should snatch clean sheet win this week versus Sevilla.
