Manchester United to go top of the table with win versus Burnley

Manchester United will go top of the Premier League table with a win versus Burnley on Tuesday night. The teams will play a game in hand at Turf Moor and the Red Devils can go top of the league with a huge derby versus Liverpool at the weekend.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team continue to rack up wins in spite of their faults. Manchester United are on a two-match winning streak and are coming off of an FA Cup 1-0 win against Watford. The win followed a 2-0 loss to Manchester City in the Carabao Cup semifinals.

Burnley are up to 16th in the Premier League. They are unbeaten in five of their last six matches in the division. Like Manchester United, the Clarets won in the FA Cup third round but they had to go to penalties against MK Dons. After finishing 1-1 after 120 minutes, Burnley won on penalties 4-3.

The Clarets are unbeaten in five of their last 10 Premier League matches versus Manchester United. Sean Dyche’s team posted a 1W-4D-5L record against the Red Devils. Their only win in the 10 matches came last season at Old Trafford, 2-0.

Manchester United have won four straight matches played at Turf Moor. Solskjaer and his players will be high on confidence going into the game based on their recent form at the venue.

Dyche will be hopeful that striker Jay Rodriguez is fit for the match. He is recovering from a knee injury. Rodriguez scored against Manchester United at Old Trafford last season. Jimmy Dunne is a doubt to play while Dwight McNeil and Charlie Taylor are likely to make the squad.

Solskjaer is without Edinson Cavani due to a suspension by the FA. Marcos Rojo and Facundo Pellistri are both ruled out. The former is injured and the latter tested positive for COVID-19. Eric Bailly could return from a back injury to play while Phil Jones is still out of action due to a knee issue.

Burnley are on a four-match unbeaten run with three of those matches finishing in wins. However, they have scored just five times in seven home fixtures.

Manchester United have the league’s second-best away points total. They have taken 19 points from 21 possible on the road. Twenty-one goals have been scored by the Red Devils on their travels.

Solskjaer’s team should go to the top of the table with a win at Turf Moor. It will be their fifth straight win at Turf Moor as they set themselves up for a huge match at Anfield on Sunday with a win versus Anfield.
