Lyon will be aiming to keep pace with Ligue 1 frontrunners Lille and PSG when they visit the Allianz Riviera to face Nice on Saturday.

Lyon currently sit third in the table – two points off the top – while Nice are down in eleventh place – nine points behind Lyon.

Nice ended a run of four league games without a win by beating Nimes 2-0 at Stade des Costieres on Wednesday.

Three defeats and a draw had seen the Eagles slide down the standings, but they secured a much-need victory last time out.

It looked as though Nice were heading for a draw in midweek. But Dan Ndoye broke the deadlock on 85 minutes, before Alexis Claude Maurice netted in stoppage time.

Overall, it's been a difficult start to the season for Nice, who finished rock bottom of their Europa League group after losing five of their six matches.

Nice have only managed to score 18 Ligue 1 goals this term – only seven teams have scored fewer goals in the French top-flight.

On the flip side, Lyon have lost just one of their 15 league matches this season, with eight wins and six draws coming along the way.

They have only conceded 13 goals in the process, earning themselves the third-best defensive record in Ligue 1.

It is also worth pointing out that only two teams – Lille and PSG – have scored more Ligue 1 goals than Lyon this season.

Lyon were on a run of five straight wins heading into their midweek match with Brest, but they were eventually held to a 2-2 draw on Wednesday.

Goals from Mephis Depay and Maxwel Cornet saw Lyon come from behind to lead 2-1, only for Romain Faivre to equalise with a stoppage-time penalty.

Head-to-head: The last three meetings between these two sides have all produced a 2-1 scoreline, with Lyon winning twice and nice winning once in that time.

Interestingly, there have been no draws in the last seven games between Nice and Lyon, with the last draw coming back in 2017.

Team news: Nice will be without veteran centre-back Dante through injury on Saturday, while Racine Coly is also expected to be sidelined.

Lyon have no fresh injury concerns heading into the weekend. Memphis Depay is their one to watch, notching up seven goals and four assists in 15 Ligue 1 games this term.

Nice are struggling at the moment, while Lyon are on a roll. All the signs are pointing towards an away win here.

Forebet predicts that Lyon will score over 1.5 goals and keep a clean sheet on their way to victory over Nice on Saturday.
