Sheffield United and Tottenham Hotspur set for low-scoring clash at Bramall Lane

Sheffield United were knocked out of the FA Cup on Sunday and continued the dip in form that has seen them go winless in four straight matches in all competitions.

Now, Tottenham Hotspur are on the way to Bramall Lane and will have their sights set on picking up a rare away win. Jose Mourinho’s team have won just three times in the Premier league away from home.

Spurs have conceded 25 times on their travels while scoring a mere 20 goals. The good news for Mourinho is the return of Harry Kane, who scored on matchday 31 against West Ham. The combination of Kane and forward Heung-min Son could power Spurs to a fourth away victory.

Although Sheffield United are winless in four straight matches in all competitions, they are still a difficult team to defeat. Chris Wilder’s side have played excellent defence all season long with just 31 goals allowed. The Blades have allowed the Premier League’s third-fewest goals.

Sheffield United’s problem is goal scoring. They have not scored a goal in the last three matches in the Premier League while conceding six times.

Their match earlier this campaign saw the teams play out a 1-1 draw at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Son opened the scoring for Spurs in the 58th minute but Sheffield United’s George Baldock pegged them back 20 minutes later giving the team a share of the spoils.

Wilder will be without players Jack O’Connell and John Lundstram due to injuries. O'Connell has a knee problem while Lundstram is suffering with a shoulder issue.

Mourinho has three injured players but none of their absences should hurt Spurs’ chances of a win. Juan Foyth, Troy Parrott, and Japhet Tanganga are all three ruled out of the fixture.

Tottenham Hotspur have restarted the Premier League season well with four points from six possible. They are in form but should run into another difficult defensive opponent.

Sheffield United punched above their weight all season long but Goal scoring has been the team’s problem with only 30 scored in 31 matches. They average just 0.97 goals a game and have scored the fourth-fewest goals in the league this season.

The Blades decline after the restart has merely been due to a lack of goals catching up with them and their previous momentum being stop. Thursday’s fixture should see a low-scoring affair between the two teams.

Sheffield United and Tottenham Hotspur will finish in a draw with under 2.5 goals going into the back of the net.
