Miserly Atletico Madrid to win to nil against Alaves
Atlético Madrid vs Deportivo Alavés - 27/06/2020
2726
Atletico Madrid recorded a third clean sheet on the trot in midweek with a 1-0 win away from home at Levante which followed previous wins to nil against Osasuna (5-0 away) and Real Valladolid (1-0 at home), and in turn helped Saturday’s hosts up into 3rd place on the La Liga ladder.
With 13 points separating them from the top two clubs, Real Madrid and Barcelona, it’s highly unlikely that Atletico Madrid will be able to catch them up.
However, the hosts now hold a six-point lead over 5th placed Getafe prior to this weekend’s Spanish top flight action and they’ll be keen to further cement their top four spot with a win here.
Atletico Madrid possess a very consistent home record which includes just the one defeat throughout this whole campaign at their Estadio Wanda Metropolitano which came in the shape of a narrow 1-0 loss to Barcelona, but aside from that, the hosts have been extremely hard to beat, let alone score against.
8 clean sheets from their 15 home matches to date this term has been built upon a solid defensive unit, second only to Athletic Bilbao (8 goals conceded).
Onto Alaves and the visitors dropped down to 14th place on the La Liga table after losing a third match in four games in the Spanish top flight when they lost 1-0 at home to Osasuna in midweek.
Previous defeats to Espanyol 2-0 and a 6-0 thrashing at the hands of Celta Vigo, both away from home, doesn’t bode well for Deportivo Alaves this Saturday as they prepare for this difficult looking clash in Madrid to take on the high-flying Atletico outfit.
To make matters worse, Alaves have picked up just two away wins all season to date and have lost 10 matches on their travels so far this term, behind only to Mallorca (12) and Levante (11), but this could quite easily turn into 11 defeats on Saturday!
The bigger picture shows that Deportivo Alaves have managed to collect just two wins from their previous 19 matches on the road in the Spanish top tier, while also failing to score in 7 of these 19 as well.
In addition, Atletico Madrid have won to nil in four of the previous five meetings, and this trend could continue this Saturday as the Both teams To Score - No, looks likely.
