Burnley set to leave south coast with all three points
2706

Burnley travel to Bournemouth on Saturday with both sides sitting in the bottom half of the Premier League table. The Cherries are four points clear of the relegation in fourteenth, while Burnley are two points ahead of Bournemouth in twelfth.

Eddie Howe’s team ended a run of five straight league defeats by securing a shock win over Chelsea last time out.

Dan Gosling’s clever improvised effort on 84 minutes saw Bournemouth snatch the points late on at Stamford Bridge.

The Cherries will be eager to record back-to-back wins this weekend, but Burnley have their own business to take care of.

Sean Dyche’s men also ended a winless run in the previous round by sneaking a slender victory over Newcastle.

Prior to their win against the Magpies, Burnley suffered high-scoring defeats to Tottenham and Manchester City, as well as a disappointing home loss to Crystal Palace.

The goals have dried up for the Clarets recently, so Dyche will be hoping his forwards can rediscover their early-season form.

Ashley Barnes scored four in the first three games of the 2019/20 campaign, but he has only netted two in 12 league appearances since then.

After scoring six goals in six games earlier in the season, fellow striker Chris Wood has only managed to find the back of the net once in his last four outings.

Bournemouth have also been poor going forward, and with the majority of the team’s goals coming away from home so far this season, they could struggle again this weekend.

It’s fair to say that Bournemouth have suffered more injuries to key players than any other team in the top-flight this term. Still, Howe won’t want to use this as an excuse for their poor form.

The Cherries currently have nine players sidelined, but last season’s top scorer – Callum Wilson – could make a return to first-team action this weekend.

Burnley beat Bournemouth convincingly both home and away last term. Dyche’s side won 4-0 at Turf Moor, before recording a 3-1 victory in the reverse fixture.

In fact, Bournemouth have only managed to beat Burnley twice in the last 12 meetings between the two teams.

All the signs are pointing towards another win for Burnley this time around. Neither side is enjoying the season they’d like, but Burnley’s head-to-head record in this fixture should give them the edge.

Forebet predicts that we will see a repeat of last season’s scoreline at the Vitality Stadium. Both teams are likely to score, but Burnley are expected to claim all three points.
