Can Sheffield United tally a big away point against Spurs?

Sheffield United have taken points off of Premier League rivals Chelsea and Arsenal this season. Now, the Blades head to north London aiming to kill another traditional giant of English football.

Tottenham Hotspur head into the weekend winless in their last four Premier League matches. Spurs are coming off of a big 4-0 win over Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League group stage. Just three days will separate Spurs’ European fixture and match against Sheffield United.

Conventional thinking is Tottenham Hotspur will struggle to deal with Sheffield United’s strong attack. Despite being newly promoted, Sheffield United are playing like an experienced Premier League side.

The Blades are unbeaten in their last four league fixtures claiming draws against Watford and West Ham along with victories versus Arsenal and Burnley. Sheffield United have not lost on their travels this term collecting four draws and one victory.

Tottenham have displayed a similar home form with three wins from five matches. Spurs’ only blemish was a 1-0 loss to Newcastle United at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder has just one injury issue ahead of Saturday’s match. John Egan is suffering from a knock and will undergo a late fitness test to give him time to recover.

Other than that one knock the Blades are in great shape especially with Lys Moussett proving himself as a goalscorer and creator. Moussett had three assists last weekend against Burnley.

Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen has been ruled out of the fixture due to a hamstring injury. He will be back in action after the international break. Erik Lamela is working his way back to full fitness and could be ready in time for Sheffield United’s visit.

Mauricio Pochettino’s team has struggled to keep leads recently. Spurs’ last two Premier League matches have seen them take first half leads only to concede goals in the second half.

Tottenham Hotspur and Sheffield United have not met since the 2014-15 Carabao Cup semifinal. Played over two legs, Spurs won the first match 1-0 and drew the second 2-2 at Bramall Lane.

Sheffield United have played well against the big boys of the Premier League. They keep games close and low scoring, which is what we should see Saturday at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium,

With Spurs in poor league form and coming off of a midweek match, Sheffield United will claim a draw as both teams score in an exciting fixture.
