With the first international break of 2024 over, Forebet is back to group together the latest analysis, data and mathematics to conclude the football predictions for Serie A this weekend as Bologna play hosts to Salernitana.

Bologna remain in fourth ahead of this game and come into the match with 15 wins on the board after returning to winning ways by beating Empoli 1-0 where Giovanni Fabbian scored deep into stoppage time.

The club did, however, suffer a loss to Inter Milan just before this on home soil, although they remain ahead of Roma in fifth by three points still and also are above Atalanta in sixth by seven points, meaning it would be quite disastrous if they were not to get some form of European football secured for next season.

Bologna were in winning form before Inter defeated them too, as they managed to get an excellent win over Atalanta with a finish from Lewis Ferguson once more and a penalty from Joshua Zirkzee.

The club also managed to defeat Hellas Verona and also win in the capital against Lazio and they also got all three points at home to Fiorentina too.

Further wins over Bologna and Sassuolo meant a six-game winning run before losing to Inter.

These two met back in December where Zirkzee was the hero once more with two finishes inside the first 10 minutes, as Simeon Nwankwo scored late on to bring one back for Salernitana. Federico Fazio was also sent off that day.

As for Salernitana, their dreadful form continued last weekend with a loss at home to Lecce that came a week after losing Cagliari too.

This now means the club have put together a 12-game winless run in Serie A since defeating Hellas Verona. The club have only managed to get draws against Torino and Udinese in this period.

In fact, with only two wins on the board, it’s almost impossible to see how Salernitana get a win here.

The club are adrift of Empoli in 17th by 11 points now, and relegation is all but secured already

Bologna's form and eagerness to get into the top four this season is what separates them and Salernitana right now. As well as this, the latter heads into this one bottom of Serie A with only two wins on the board and 19 defeats, and they basically have both feet back in Serie B already. Forebet predicts a win for Bologna and over 2.5 goals.
