Will the Oliver Glasner-led Crystal Palace pick up a much-needed win over Burnley?
2077

Crystal Palace appointed former Europa League winner Oliver Glasner this week as manager. Now, the former Eintracht Frankfurt coach will take the helm of The Eagles and attempt to avoid relegation. Will our algorithm predict a Palace win over Burnley?

Burnley will visit Selhurst Park on Saturday in desperate need of a win. Indeed, both clubs are in need of wins, as this fixture is a perfectly poised relegation six-pointer.

The Clarets will begin the weekend in 19th place and seven points off relegation safety. Vincent Kompany’s team looks nailed on for relegation unless something changes soon.

Crystal Palace have said goodbye to the Roy Hodgson era. Now, the South London club is looking for a new start with a very accomplished coach. The only question will be: Will Crystal Palace give Glasner enough time?

Palace are 15th in the league and five points above the relegation zone. They took just one point from the last nine on offer in the league. The Eagles scored just three goals across the last three games, while conceding eight times.

Burnley picked up two points from their last six matches in the Premier League. They are bottom of the Premier League’s form table. The Clarets were outscored 17-7 across the last six matches.

Only Sheffield United have conceded more goals than Burnley’s 55. In addition, only Sheffield United scored fewer goals than Burnley (25).

Crystal Palace won the reverse fixture against Burnley, 2-0. The score may have flattered Palace, as Jeffrey Schlupp scored in the 22nd minute and it wasn’t until the 93rd minute that Tyrick Mitchell added a second goal.

Burnley kept 67.5% possession and outshot Crystal Palace 17-7. However, Palace were not wasteful with their chances.

Glasner will be without midfielder Cheick Doucoure due to a leg injury. Rob Holding and Michael Olise will also be out. Olise is a massive miss due to his goal scoring abilities. Adding to Glasner’s attacking headaches will be the absence of Eberechi Eze.

Kompany will be without Aaron Ramsey for the fixture due to injury. Nathan Redmond is also sidelined following a thigh injury. Jordan Beyer will also miss out thanks to a leg issue.

Glasner has a lot to live up to at Palace due to his history with Eintracht Frankfurt. Our algorithm predicts Glasner will pick up his first win as Palace manager, with a 3-1 victory. It’ll take time, but Glasner could turn Palace into an exciting attacking side.
