Borussia Dortmund are becoming quite desperate for a winning run when they head to the RheinEnergieSTADION to meet with the struggling Koln this Saturday afternoon with BVB still down in fifth.

After losing the Bundesliga title by the narrowest of margins last season, Dortmund head into this game with a gap of 15 points on Bayer Leverkusen at the top of the table and with no hopes of getting themselves into the title race with a further 11-point gap on Bayern Munich in second place.

The Black and Yellow did see a welcomed return for former superstar Jadon Sancho last time out, however, as he rekindled his partnership with Marcos Reus after coming on to assist the German within just a handful of minutes.

Julian Brandt and Youssoufa Moukoko scored a goal each in that 3-0 away to Darmstadt.

This was, however, the first win in six games across all competitions for Dortmund with them going the entire December without getting a win on the board after their excellent 3-1 win over AC Milan in the Champions League.

This was followed by a commendable 1-1 draw with Bayer Leverkusen.

BVB were then knocked out of the DFB-Pokal round of 16 with a 2-0 loss away to Stuttgart, as they then went on to lose at home to RB Leipzig 3-2 in the Bundesliga, as Niklas Sule and Niclas Fullkrug scored a goal each in that defeat.

Dortmund then secured a 1-1 draw in the Champions League at home to Paris Saint-Germain, but this still meant the club made it into the knockout rounds of the competition where they now meet with PSV Eindhoven across two legs.

Further 1-1 draws with Augsburg and Mainz, however, mean the club have only just returned to winning ways and now sit down in fifth in the Bundesliga.

As for Koln, their struggles continue week after week and they now remain down in 17th.

They also cannot get out of the relegation zone this weekend due to the three-point gap on Union Berlin in 15th and because of how Mainz (16th) and Union (15th) meet this weekend.

Koln are also on a lengthy winless run right now, as their last victory - like Dortmund - was against Darmstadt at the start of December.

Further losses to Freiburg and Union by 2-0 scorelines came in, as they drew with Mainz 0-0 before a 1-1 clash with Heidenheim.

Forebet predicts a win for Dortmund and under 2.5 goals.
