With just one win in their last three La Liga matches, Barcelona will start the second half of the campaign seven points off first-place Real Madrid.

Of course, the gap between Barcelona and Madrid could increase, with the capital club playing a day earlier.

On Thursday, Barcelona will clash with Las Palmas, who sit in ninth place. The Canaries are having a strong season after earning promotion to La Liga last season. Las Palmas will begin round No. 19 10 points off fifth-place Athletic Bilbao.

Barcelona and Las Palmas have not bet in a competitive match since the 2017-18 La Liga season.

In the teams’ last six head-to-head encounters, Barcelona posted a record of 5W-1D-0L. Of course, Barcelona were a far different team and featured Lionel Messi.

Xavi’s Blaugrana took 11 points from the last 18 points on offer in the league. They outscored their last six opponents 10-9. Just before the Christmas break, Barca defeated Almeria at home by a score of 3-2.

Las Palmas picked up eight points from the last six matches in the league. The Canaries struggled to score goals across the last six fixtures, scoring just five goals. The defence carried the team during that time, allowing just four goals to opponents.

Las Palmas went unbeaten in their last three home matches, winning twice and drawing once. They conceded just two goals in the three fixtures.

Barcelona are undefeated away from home this season. However, five of their eight matches on the road ended in draws.

Barca have struggled to turn draws into wins when playing on the road. Their last two away games ended in identical 1-1 scores.

Xavi will be without midfielder Pedri for the match following a muscle injury. Inigo Martinez is also out after suffering a muscle injury. Marcos Alonso will also miss the game with a muscle problem.

Barcelona midfielder Gavi is out for the rest of the season with an ACL injury. Goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen is out of action until March with a back injury.

Las Palmas coach Garcia Pimienta could be without three players, including midfielder Alberto Moreno (shoulder), midfielder Fabio Gonzalez (ankle), and forward Machin Perez (ACL) due to injuries.

Robert Lewandowski leads Barca in goals with eight this season. The Blaugrana scored 34 goals in 18 matches, which is the fourth-best figure this season. The defence conceded 21 times in 18 games, the fifth-fewest in the league.

Barcelona drew their last two away games by identical 1-1 scores. Thursday’s game at Las Palmas should see the Canaries snatch a point from Barcelona.

It would be Barca’s sixth draw from nine away games.
