The La Liga action resumes this week following a short winter lay-off. On Wednesday, relegation-threatened Celta Vigo host European-chasing Real Betis.

Thanks to a mammoth 13-game unbeaten streak, Real Betis find themselves 10 points outside the Champions League places.

At the opposite end of the table, Celta Vigo sit two points inside the drop zone, having managed to win just two of their 18 matches this season.

Celta Vigo enjoyed a rare four-game unbeaten run towards the end of 2023, recording three successive draws before beating Granada 1-0.

However, the regelation strugglers returned to losing ways last time out, suffering a 3-2 defeat against Villarreal.

Not only have Celta won just two of their 18 La Liga clashes this season, but they have also won three of their previous 25 league encounters.

Still, the hosts can take confidence from the fact that they have lost just one of their last six league games at the Estadio Municipal de Balaidos.

As for Real Betis, they drew 1-1 with Girona last time out, with German Pezzella snatching a point for the hosts in the 88th minute.

That result saw Betis extend their unbeaten run in La Liga to 13 matches, with four wins and nine draws coming since their last loss.

Remarkably, Real Betis have drawn each of their previous six away league outings, recording four consecutive 1-1 stalemate before notching back-to-back goalless draws.

Having managed to win just one of their nine away games in La Liga this term, Betis will be eager to establish some consistency on the road.

Head-to-head: When these two sides last met back in February 2023, Celta Vigo claimed a crazy 4-3 victory over Real Betis.

As a result, Celta head into Wednesday’s clash on a four-game unbeaten run against Betis, who have lost three of those meetings.

Team news: The hosts will be without injured duo Joseph Aidoo and Carl Starfelt on Wednesday, while Mihailo Ristic remains a doubt.

On the flip side, the visitors have Marc Bartra, Hector Bellerin and Guido Rodriguez on the treatment table, with question marks over Claudio Bravo and Nabil Fekir.

If Real Betis’ recent away results are anything to go by, Wednesday’s clash will likely be a low-scoring draw.

Forebet predicts that Celta Vigo and Real Betis will share the spoils on this occasion, with both teams netting under 1.5 goals.
