Arsenal can go back to the top of the Premier League table, with a win over Brighton on Sunday. The Gunners will begin round No. 17 in second place, one point behind league-leaders Liverpool.

However, Arsenal aren’t guaranteed to finish the weekend in first place, as Liverpool face off with Manchester United at Anfield in the final game of the day.

Regardless, Mikel Arteta’s Gunners can put plenty of pressure on Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool in the title race.

Brighton are aiming to throw a spanner in the works for the Gunners. After a dip in form, the Seagulls collected four points from their last two games. Brighton are four points off the top five.

The last time Arsenal welcomed Brighton to the Emirates Stadium, the guests won 3-0. Brighton stormed to a famous win in north London last term to avenge a 4-2 loss at the Amex Stadium earlier in the campaign.

Indeed, Brighton played well against Arsenal in their last three trips to the Emirates. Brighton posted two wins and a draw in their last three games versus Arsenal in London. Can Roberto De Zerbi’s team win once more?

Arsenal are coming off a 1-0 loss to Aston Villa at Villa Park. It was Arsenal’s second loss in their last six matches in the Premier League.

The Gunners went to the Netherlands to play PSV Eindhoven in midweek Champions League play. The game finished 1-1, as Arsenal’s defence lapses allowed PSV to score an equaliser and gain a draw.

Arsenal won their last four matches in the league at the Emirates. The Gunners conceded just eight goals on their home turf.

Brighton struggle playing away from the Amex Stadium. They won just one of their last five matches on the road.

The Seagulls have an away record of 3W-1D-3L. The team’s defence has been guilty of conceding goals on the road, with 16 allowed.

Arteta will be without Mohamed Elneny after he suffered a leg injury on Wednesday in Eindhoven.

Thomas Partey, Jurrien Timber, Takahiro Tomiyasu, and Fabio Vieira are all likely to remain out of action due to injuries. Gabriel Martinelli is a game-time decision.

De Zerbi will likely still be without Ansu Fati following a leg injury. Joining him on the sidelines will be Pevis Estupinan, Tariq Lamptey, Julio Enciso, Danny Welbeck, and Solly March.

All five players are injured. De Zerbi will miss the impact each of those players can make.

Arsenal failed to win their last three home games against Brighton and should have issues with claiming a win. However, the Gunners should ultimately win this fixture, 3-2, as Brighton continue their struggles on the road.
