Fluminense and Sao Paulo Clinging Onto Top 6 Hopes by a Thread This Wednesday

10th takes on eighth in the Brazilian Serie A this weekend with Fluminense set to welcome São Paulo to the Maracana.
Both of these two head into this match on Wednesday off the back of more draws, as Sao Paulo went to Santos and played out a lacklustre 0-0.
This does, however, keep them on a four-game unbeaten run after also beating RB Bragantino and Cruzeiro each by a 1-0 scoreline.
Athletico-PR would also draw with them 1-1 as Pablo Maia scored another goal.
On the other hand to this better run of form recently, the club have also lost to Palmeiras 5-0 within the past month.
Sao Paulo are now sitting with 12 wins on the board from 33 games and have also lost 11 games and drawn 10 times.
This also sees them with 37 goals let in and 35 goals conceded, and it has been yet another underwhelming season for the club.
In fact, they are behind Flamengo in the Libertadores qualifying spot of sixth by 11 points.

Luciano da Rocha Neves scored the game's only goal late on that day, while Jhon Arias was sent off in the 99th minute of the game for Fluminense.
Despite the poor form in the league for Fluminense, the club are heading into this one just 16 days after winning the Copa Libertadores, narrowly defeating Boca Juniors with a goal in extra time from John Kennedy.

They did also draw with Flamengo in the last outing, as Nino racked up Fluminense's second red card in four games and now misses this match.
Fluminense are themselves adrift of the top six by 10 points with five games left to play, and with 43 goals scored across the 33 games, they are in slightly better form than Sao Paulo this season.
