Burnley seeking a PL win over Crystal Palace to rescue season

Burnley are desperate for a win to improve their chances of getting out of the relegation zone this weekend. The Clarets will start matchday No. 11 in 19th place and two points from safety.

Vincent Kompany are tipped as one of the three clubs to be relegated this season after gaining promotion from the Championship last term.

Crystal Palace are sitting pretty ahead of the weekend. The Eagles are 13th, with 12 points from 10 games.

Despite their good start, Roy Hodgson’s team lost their last two Premier League matches. They limp into the match but playing against Burnley could help the Eagles to three points.

Burnley posted a record of 3W-2D-1L against Crystal Palace in their last six meetings.

However, these teams have not played since the 2021-22 season. That season saw the teams draw both Premier League matches.

The Clarets are very different this season than they were two seasons ago. The club is managed by Kompany, who has made no changes to the attacking approach that led to winning the Championship in 2022-23.

Burnley took just three points from the last six matches in the Premier League. They are on a three-game losing streak and conceded 2.0 goals in each of those three matches.

The Clarets conceded 25 goals this season in the league, the second-most in the Premier League after 10 games.

Meanwhile, the team scored just eight goals, which is the second-fewest in the division.

Palace took five points from the last six games in the league. They were outscored 9-3 in those six fixtures.

Palace are not a high-scoring team and have just eight goals to their name this season. It is the same number as Burnley, making Palace the team with the second-fewest goals scored.

Hodgson will be without James Tomkins due to a calf injury. Michael Olise is nearing a return but is unlikely to be fit for Saturday.

Eberechi Eze may sit out the game with a thigh injury. Goalkeeper Dean Henderson is out with an injury, but Tyrick Mitchell should be fit following a dead leg.

Kompany will be without Hjalmar Ekdal due to a knee injury. Josh Cullen will serve a suspension and miss the game.

Benson Manuel Hedilazio is a major doubt due to an ankle problem. Jordan Beyer is ruled out of the match.

Burnley are struggling this season and should find playing Palace difficult on Saturday. The Eagles should win away at Turf Moor 2-1 in a close match.
