Brentford and Burnley seeking to kickstart their PL seasons
2024

Brentford have not enjoyed their start to the Premier League season. The Bees posted just one win from their opening eight fixtures.

Thomas Franck’s typically strong defence allowed 12 goals in the opening eight matches.

The Bees find themselves as an early candidate to be relegated from the Premier League this season. Brentford failed to win any of their last six league matches.

On Saturday, they will host Burnley at the G-Tech Stadium, aiming to end their winless streak.

Burnley are 18th in the standings after eight games. They too have won just one match in the Premier League this term.

Vincent Kompany’s team conceded 20 goals to start the campaign. It is the second-most goals allowed in the Premier League this term.

The Clarets won one of their last six matches in the league. Their only win this season came against Luton Town, another team battling against the drop.

These teams last met during the 2021-22 season. That campaign was Brentford’s first in the Premier League and the last for Burnley before they were relegated to the Championship.

Burnley won at Turf Moor 3-1 against Brentford before losing 2-0 at the G-Tech stadium later in the season.

Brentford have not won at home this season in four matches. They drew their three opening home games before losing 3-1 in a shock match versus Everton. The Bees were outscored 8-6 in their four home matches.

Burnley took four points from nine points on offer on the road. They struggled to score goals in their three road matches, tallying three goals. The defence only conceded four times in away matches.

Frank could be without up to nine players. Full-back Rico Henry is out for the rest of the season with a knee injury. Striker Ivan Toney remains suspended from the squad.

Forward Kevin Schade will be out until January with a groin injury. Joshua Dasilva is out until November with a thigh injury, and Shandon Baptiste is out with a shoulder injury.

Mikkel Damsgaard is nearing a return from a knee injury. Ben Mee, Keane Lewis-Potter, and Mark Fiekken are all doubts to make the squad.

Kompany will be without Jordan Beyer and Michael Obafemi due to injuries. Nathan Redmon, Benson Manuel, and Johan Berg Gudmundsson are all fighting to be fit for the match.

Neither Brentford nor Burnley are in good. The teams should finish Saturday’s game in London 1-1. Brentford have drawn the most games this season, with four. A draw against Burnley will see them gain a fifth draw from nine games.
