Tottenham to earn their Spurs in Gent
On Thursday night Premier League Tottenham travel to Belgium to face KAA Gent in the first leg of the last-32 of the Europa League.
The home side finished second in their group behind Ukrainian giants Shakhtar Donetsk, having endured an inconsistent campaign that saw them win two, draw two and lose two of their games.
Gent have struggled for victories of late, having won just two of their last ten games in all competitions. They are currently eighth in the Belgian top-flight after a mixed season domestically. Gent have been involved in a number of low-scoring games of late, with under 2.5 goals being scored in their last six games in all competitions.
Gent have a decent recent home record in the Europa League, winning six of their last nine European games on home soil, with over 2.5 goals scored in six of their last seven home games in the competition.
Tottenham are in the Europa League courtesy of finishing third in their Champions League group, having won just two of their group games. Spurs are in decent form, though, having suffered just one defeat in their last 12 outings in all competitions.
They have suffered defeat in their last two games in the Europa League, though, which both came against Dortmund last season. Prior to those defeats against BVB, Spurs had gone five games unbeaten in the competition, recording four wins in the process.
Spurs games in the Europa League have been relatively high-scoring in recent seasons, with over 2.5 goals scored in four of their last five games in the competition. The visitor’s away record in the Europa League is poor, as they have won just one of their last seven games in the competition.
Tottenham head into this clash as favourites to record a victory and Forebet predicts that Mauricio Pochettino’s side will record a relatively comfortable win in this clash.
