River Plate will head to the Estadio Florencio Sola this weekend to meet with a struggling Banfield side as the league leaders look to further cement themselves as the favourites to win the Argentine Primera Division this season with a healthy gap at the top.
It's been a fantastic season for River Plate so far and they are currently sitting four points clear of Atletico Talleres in second and with a game in hand.
The league leaders in Argentina have now let in just 11 goals from the 18 matches so far and it means only San Lorenzo have a better defensive record.
What's more, the club head into this one with the most wins after securing 13 victories during this spell although they did draw for the second time in the last outing.
The club drew 2-2 with Velez Sarsfield at the end of May with a goal each from Robert Rojas and Lucas Beltran.
River Plate were playing against Defensa y Justicia last weekend in the Argentine Primera Division, but the game was suspended midway through and will be rescheduled for later in the season, hence why they have a game in hand.
This means the club's last win came in midweek as River Plate defeated Fluminense in a 2-0 win at home thanks to a finish from Lucas Beltran once again, as Esequiel Barco scored a penalty in the 97th minute.
That win also pushed River Plate into second in Group D of the Copa Libertadores, as they now sit behind Fluminense by just two points in the table.
They have, however, lost twice from five games in that competition and their recent victory was just their second win.
As for Banfield, they continue to struggle this season with a spot all the way down in 26th in the league table. It means just four wins for far in the Argentine top flight.
They've also managed to concede 22 times in the league and score only 12, losing nine games - only Arsenal Sarandi in last place have lost more games.
In their last outing, Banfield were defeated 2-0 by Racing Club although they did manage to beat Rosario Central 2-0 before that game.
The club also lost 2-1 to San Lorenzo, but they are one of just four teams to score against them this season.
