River Plate Back on Track in the Libertadores After a Win Against Fluminense

River Plate and Fluminense are set to clash in the Copa Libertadores on matchday five at the Estadio Mâs Monumental with the Argentinian giants looking to keep up their excellent form in 2022/23.
River Plate have been fantastic throughout this campaign and now head into this game top of the Argentine Primera Division. Despite their great run on the domestic front, they have struggled tremendously in the Copa Libertadores.
So far, River Plate have won just one game, drawn another and lost two other games. This has seen them let in the most goals across the entire group stage campaign with 11 goals let in during Group D.
Last time out in the Libertadores, the Argentine Primera Division drew 1-1 with Sporting Cristal after a goal from Rodrigo Aliendro. Salomon Rondon was also sent off against Cristal and now misses this game.
River Plate have, however, managed to defeat Boca Juniors in the past month too, and alongside a draw with Velaz Sarsfield and wins over Talleres Cordoba and Platense, the club have now won three of their past five games.
The only win River Plate have in the Libertadores came against Cristal six weeks ago. Enzo Diaz was sent off that day but can return in this game. Nicolas de la Cruz scored the opening goal that day, as Lucas Beltran, Pablo Solari and Ezequiel Barco all scored a goal each.
Back in Argentina, River Plate have won 13 of their 18 games so far and lost only three times. Alongside two draws, the club have also scored 31 times and let in just 11 goals.
As for Fluminense, they head into this game off the back of winning just one of their past four games. They first lost 1-0 to The Strongest in the Libertadores before a 2-0 beating from Corinthians. After this, Fluminese lost 2-0 to Flamengo before beating RB Bragantino 2-1.
They are sitting sixth in Serie A ahead of this one and are only behind Palmeiras in second by three points. The club have, however, lost three times in nine games but won five - this is the second-most number of goals in the Brazilian Serie A.
Forebet predicts a win for River Plate and for the game to see over 2.5 goals as the club aims to get their Copa Libertadores form back on track just as Fluminense sit top of the table.
