Villarreal Set to Ease Past Vallecano and Keep Their Hopes of Champions League Football Alive

Villarreal are aiming to give their hopes of getting into the Champions League one more push when they head to Madrid to meet with a Rayo Vallecano side all the way down in 12th after a poor run of form in recent weeks.

Vallecano have lost their past three games and scored in each of them, but they now head into this game with a 3-1 loss to Real Betis, a 2-1 loss to Espanyol and a recent defeat to city rivals Real Madrid away from home.

It has seen them move down from eighth into 12th in recent times, although the club have still managed to beat Barcelona 2-1 in the past five weeks.

This, alongside their win over Real Valladolid are the only wins the Madrid outfit have put together in the past seven weeks, however.

Rayo Vallecano now head into this game with 14 losses on the board and 12 wins alongside 10 draws. It has also seen the club score 43 goals and 49 goals.

As for Villarreal, they will be back in the Europa League once again next season with the club now sitting above Osasuna in seventh by 13 points.

They also sit above Real Betis in sixth by seven points with just six left to play for, meaning a top five spot is secured in La Liga this season.

The club are still sitting behind Real Sociedad by five points in the race for the Champions League, but they will need to win their final two games of the season and hope that Sociedad lose their final two games too.

Villarreal are heading into this game off the back of a six-game unbeaten run that has seen them smash Espanyol 4-2, beat Celta Vigo 3-1 and also defeat Athletic Club 5-1 alongside narrow wins over Cadiz and Girona.

Their only dropped points in this run came in a 1-1 draw away to Valencia.

Despite the recent run of form, fans will be aware of the 1-0 loss to Vallecano back in January, which was also the last time Villarreal were defeated at home. Sergio Camello scored another goal that day for Vallecano in an away win.

With a lot more to play for for Villarreal and a poor run at home for Vallecano, Forebet predicts a win for the away side in this one. Forebet also predicts the game to see over 2.5 goals as Villarreal aim to secure a spot in Europe.
