Second from bottom meets with second from top in La Liga this weekend with Espanyol set to welcome Atletico Madrid to the RCDE Stadium with the home side still aiming to get out of the bottom three in the final three games of the season.

With no games in hand, Espanyol are heading into this game with their chance to survive out of their hands and matches with Valencia and Almeria to come.

The club are now trailing Getafe by one point in the race to get out of the bottom three, as they also head into this match with just eight games won and 17 defeats on the board too. It comes after letting in 61 goals and scoring only 44 of their own.

On the other hand, the relegation-threatened side did defeat Rayo Vallecano away from home last time out to give fans great hope of escaping relegation. Sergi Darder and Nico Melamed netted a goal each that day with all three points coming in from 10 shots and six on target.

Prior to this, Espanyol did lose in a local derby to Barcelona, as Sevilla also took all three points off them. The club would also go on to defeat Getafe three weeks ago in a vital battle down at the bottom of La Liga.

Ultimately, with a point to make up on Getafe since that win, they now have to hope they can better the results of those around them, as Real Valladolid in 18th also sit above them in the table.

As for Atletico Madrid, they have moved up into second once more in La Liga with the club seeing rivals Real Madrid lose to Valencia.

Atletico smashed Osasuna 3-0 at the same time, with Yannick Carrasco scoring in the first half before a goal each from Saul Niguez and Angel Correa.

Atletico did lose to Elche before that, which would give fellow relegation fighters Espanyol a bit of hope in getting something out of this game.

Diego Simeone's men have still managed to lose only seven games this season with them also winning 22 now. Only Barcelona and Real Madrid have scored more than them.

Forebet predicts a win for Atletico Madrid in this game and for the match to see over 2.5 goals with the club set to stamp their marker down on second spot in La Liga and all but secure their spot in the top three.
