Everton will start matchday 37 in 17th place, one point ahead of 18th-place Leeds and two points in front of 19th-place Leicester City.
On Saturday, the Toffees will visit Molineux to face off with Wolverhampton Wanderers. Wolves are safe for another year of Premier League football thanks to the guidance of manager Julen Lopetegui.
Wolves are 13th in the standings and can finish as high as 11th. The Old Gold aren’t in the best of form going into the game. They took nine points from the last 18 points on offer. Wolverhampton fell 2-0 at Manchester United a week ago.
Everton are coming off a 3-0 loss at home to Man City. The Toffees took just five points from their last six matches. Despite their lack of points, Everton did better than either Leeds or Leicester in recent matches.
Wolverhampton Wanderers are on a three-match winning streak against Everton. The Old Gold picked up a 2-1 win in the reverse fixture thanks to goals from Daniel Podence and Rayan Ait-Nouri.
Everton led 1-0 after seven minutes thanks to a goal from Yerry Mina. Wolves battled back. Ait-Nouri's winner came in second-half stoppage time.
The bad news for Everton is Wolves’ recent home form. The Old Gold are on a four-match winning streak in the Premier League at Molineux. Everton failed to win five of their last six away games. Sean Dyche’s team did win 5-1 at Brighton in their most recent road fixture.
Dyche does have an injury crisis at the moment. Seamus Coleman is ruled out of the match, along with Conor Coady. Vitalii Mykolenko is a major doubt to make the squad. Ruben Vinagre and Andros Townsend are still out of action.
Meanwhile, Ben Godfrey won’t make the squad due to his injury problem. Striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin is in the treatment room once more. He should make the squad, however.
Lopetegui has no fresh injury issues going into the home match with Everton. Of course, Lopetegui does have scoring issues. Wolves have scored the fewest goals this season, with just 30. Everton scored a mere 32 goals, the third-fewest in the league.
Despite the teams struggling to score, they combined for three goals in the reverse fixture. The pressure should be high on Everton on Saturday at Molineux. It could lead to them dropping points to Wolves once more.
However, this time, Everton should get a point, as they draw 1-1 with Wolverhampton.
