Liverpool are unbeaten in nine straight Premier League matches, with seven straight fixtures ending as wins. The Reds' fantastic form has them knocking on the top four with just six points left to play for.

Jurgen Klopp’s team is chasing Newcastle and Manchester United in the race for the top four. The Reds do not have control of their future, as Man United have a game in hand. Liverpool will start matchday No 37 one point off Manchester United.

Aston Villa are chasing European qualification as well. The Villains are eighth in the standings and one point off the top six. Unai Emery’s team could qualify for either the Europa League or Conference League.

But like Liverpool, Aston Villa must win the rest of their matches and hope the teams ahead of them drop points. Villa are coming off a 2-1 home win over Tottenham. The win ended a two-match losing streak.

Liverpool are on a five-game winning streak against Aston Villa in all competitions. In the reverse fixture, the Reds won 3-1 at Villa Park on Boxing Day. Mohamed Salah opened the scoring and Virgil van Dijk doubled the lead just before halftime.

Ollie Watkins pulled Aston Villa a goal back, but Liverpool’s Stefan Bajcetic put the Reds back into control. Liverpool have played well at Anfield all season, posting a record of 13W-4D-1L. They won each of their last four games at Anfield.

Villa are winless in three straight road games, with each of the last two away matches ending in defeat. The Villains’ away record this season is 6W-4D-8L.

Klopp has expressed his desire for Roberto Firmino to make an appearance on Saturday. The Brazilian will leave Anfield this summer and could make his last appearance at the legendary stadium.

Midfielder Thiago is ruled out for the rest of the season with a leg injury. Calvin Ramsay and Bajcetic are also done for the season due to their respective injuries. Naby Keita will be unavailable, as he prepares to leave Anfield. Darwin Nunez could return following a foot injury.

Emery has fewer injury problems going into matchday No 37. Back-up goalkeeper Jed Steer is out with a calf injury. Midfielder Philippe Coutinho will miss the game following a muscle injury.

Liverpool are on a great run of form and should continue it on Saturday at Villa Park. The Reds should win 2-1. Mohamed Salah is on 19 goals for Liverpool. He is coming off a three-assist performance against Leicester while Curtis Jones scored twice.
