Liverpool to edge Brentford in high-scoring thriller
Liverpool vs Brentford - 06/05/2023

Liverpool will go in search of a sixth successive Premier League victory when they welcome Brentford to Anfield on Saturday.
Jurgen Klopp’s side have climbed to fifth in the Premier League table thanks to an impressive hot streak, with sixth-placed Tottenham Hotspur sitting five points below.
Meanwhile, Brentford find themselves ninth – nine points behind Liverpool – after securing back-to-back wins to reignite their season.
Liverpool head into Saturday’s clash on the back of a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Fulham in midweek, courtesy of a Mohamed Salah penalty.
That win following triumphs against Leeds United, Nottingham Forest, West Ham United and Spurs, meaning the Reds are unbeaten in seven Premier League games.
Better still, Liverpool have lost just two of their previous 14 league outings, picking up nine wins and three draws along the way.
Having avoided defeat in each of their last 10 home league games, Klopp’s men will be confident of extending their hot streak this weekend.
As for Brentford, they came from behind to snatch a 2-1 victory over Forest last time out, thanks to late strikes from Ivan Toney and Josh Dasilva.
The Bees have taken seven points from their last three matches, with a draw against Aston Villa and a win over Chelsea preceding the victory over Forest.
When Thomas Frank’s side endured a run of two wins in 11 games between February and April, it looked as though their season would fizzle out.
However, Brentford appear to be back on track and will fancy their chances of frustrating Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday.
Head-to-head: Brentford claimed a 3-1 victory over Liverpool in the reverse fixture back in January, although Liverpool defeated the Bees 3-0 prior to that.
Given that the last three meetings between Liverpool and Brentford have produced 13 goals – averaging 4.3 goals per game – we should see plenty of action this time around.
Team news: Liverpool’s injury list contains Thiago Alcantara, Calvin Ramsay, Stefan Bajcetic, Naby Keita and Roberto Firmino.
Brentford also have five players out through injury, with Pontus Jansson, Keane Lewis-Potter, Thomas Strakosha, Kristoffer Ajer and Christian Norgaard on the sidelines.
If the previous Premier League meetings between Liverpool and Brentford are anything to go by, Saturday’s clash will be a lively affair.
Forebet predicts that Liverpool and Brentford will combine for over 4.5 goals, with Jurgen Klopp’s men outscoring the Bees.
