Arsenal set to edge Liverpool in high-scoring thriller at Anfield

High-flying Arsenal will resume their Premier League title charge when they face off-from Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.

With nine games remaining, the Gunners sit eight points clear of second-placed Manchester City, although Pep Guardiola’s side have a game in hand.

Meanwhile, Liverpool find themselves in mid-table obscurity – 29 points behind Arsenal – having endured a season to forget up to now.

Jurgen Klopp’s men played out a goalless draw with fellow strugglers Chelsea on Tuesday, as both sides missed multiple chances at Stamford Bridge.

The Reds have now failed to win any of their last four matches across all competitions, suffering three straight defeats before Tuesday’s draw.

When you look at the bigger picture, Liverpool have managed to win just 12 of their 28 Premier League games this season, recording seven draws and nine losses.

There is no hiding the fact that Liverpool have struggled for consistency throughout the campaign, but they tend to rise to the occasion of high-profile clashes at Anfield.

As for Arsenal, they head into Sunday’s clash on the back of successive 4-1 victories, having dispatched Crystal Palace and Leeds United.

The Gunners have now won each of their last seven Premier League matches, scoring over 2.5 goals in six of those victories while keeping three clean sheets.

Remarkably, Mikel Arteta’s men have only lost three of their 29 league games this season, securing a whopping 23 wins along the way.

As a result, Arsenal are on course to clinch their first Premier League title since 2003-04, when Arsene Wenger led the likes of Thierry Henry and Dennis Bergkamp to glory.

Head-to-head: Arsenal claimed a 3-2 victory over Liverpool in the reverse fixture back in October, with Bukayo Saka bagging a brace at the Emirates.

That said, Liverpool have won four of their last five Premier League meetings with the Gunners, keeping a clean sheet in three of those victories.

Team news: Stefan Bajcetic and Naby Keita are sidelined for Liverpool, while Luis Diaz, Virgil van Dijk and Thiago Alcantara are doubts for Sunday.

Arsenal will be without the injured quartet of William Saliba, Eddie Nketiah, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Mohamed Elneny this weekend.

Liverpool are expected to put up a fight at Anfield, but Arsenal should have enough firepower to come away with all three points.

Forebet predicts that Liverpool and Arsenal will combine for over 4.5 goals, with the Gunners coming out on top in a high-scoring thriller.
