Milan Set to Win Again With Empoli Up Next at the San Siro
2957

AC Milan will be aiming to build on their stunning win in Naples last weekend as they welcome Empoli to the San Siro as the champions look to put pressure on Lazio in second with the away side eyeing up the top half of the table.

Although Empoli are sitting down in 14th ahead of this one, relegation fears are not circling the club as they once did with them now 12 points clear of the 18th-placed Hellas Verona. On the other hand, they have still scored just 25 goals this campaign.

Empoli last defeated Lecce in the league as Francesco Caputo's penalty in the second half handed them all three points on home soil, although Lorenzo Tonelli was sent off in the 90th minute that day and will now miss this game through suspension.

The victory keeps the club within seven points of Torino in eighth and a win here for Empoli would be both their biggest of the campaign and the most significant victory in terms of their hopes of a top half finish.

Milan are heading into this one after their best win of the season. In fact, despite all their glory over the past two years and the excellent results in their title-winning campaign of last season, their 4-0 hammering over Napoli in Naples is up there with one of their best-ever wins in Serie A given the current league standings of the two.

Rafael Leao got a brace that day and kicked things off in the 17th minute with a lovely chipped effort thanks to some magic from Brahim Diaz to assist the goal.

Diaz would score just eight minutes later himself before Leao netted another fantastic effort in the 59th minute. Alexis Saelemaekers scored in the 67th minute to add a fourth and keep Milan in third as a result.

Nevertheless, despite beating the destined champions, it’s fair to say that their title is still far gone with a gap of 20 points on Napoli still, and Milan’s aims are merely to track down Lazio in second who now sit five clear of them.

This recent fantastic win for Stefano Pioli's men was also their first victory in four games after losing to Fiorentina and Udinese and drawing with Tottenham Hotspur and Salernitana.

Forebet predicts another win for Milan and for the game to see over 2.5 goals.
