Barcelona will aim to extend their lead at the summit of the La Liga table when they welcome Sevilla to Camp Nou on Sunday night.

With 19 games in the books, Barca find themselves five points clear of second-placed Real Madrid and 11 points above third-placed Real Sociedad.

Meanwhile, Sevilla occupy thirteenth place in the table. The Andalusia outfit finished fourth last season, but they currently find themselves just two points clear of the relegation zone.

Barcelona head into Sunday’s clash on the back of a 2-1 victory over Real Betis, with Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski grabbing the goals for the visitors.

Xavi’s side have now won their last six matches in all competitions and have avoided defeat in each of their previous 14 encounters.

In La Liga, the Catalans have only lost one of their 19 games this season – picking up 16 wins and two draws in the process.

It is also worth noting that Barca have conceded a measly nine league goals this season, with 14 clean sheets coming along the way.

On the flip side, Sevilla made a dismal start to the 2022-23 La Liga campaign – winning just one of their opening eight matches.

They also managed to win just two of their first 15 league outings this term, with a six-game winless run coming between October and December

That said, the Andalusia outfit have turned things around in recent weeks – winning three of their previous four La Liga clashes.

Even so, they remain 29 points behind Barcelona in the table and also have one of the poorest offensive records in the division.

Head-to-head: Barcelona won the reverse fixture 3-0 back in August, meaning the Catalans have won four of their last five matches against Sevilla.

Given that Sevilla have managed to win just four of their last 43 La Liga meetings with Barca – suffering 29 defeats in that time – the visitors are destined to struggle on Sunday.

Team news: Barcelona have reported no fresh injury problems ahead of Sunday’s clash, although Ousmane Dembele remains sidelined with a muscle injury.

Sevilla will be without the injured trio of Jesus Navas, Marko Dmitrovic and Jesus Manuel Corona this weekend, while Alex Telles and Marcao are doubts.

When you couple Barca’s record against Sevilla with the 29-point gulf between the teams in the table, all the signs point towards a home victory on Sunday.

Forebet predicts that both teams will score at Camp Nou. However, Barcelona are expected to outscore Sevilla and claim all three points.
