Watford and Palace set for goals galore
Two teams in poor form meet on Boxing Day at Vicarage Road, as Watford host Crystal Palace. The game looks to be the ideal opportunity for one of the teams to get their campaign back on track.
Watford heads into this clash in poor form, despite sitting in the relative comfort of 12th position in the Premier League table. However, Walter Mazzarri’s side have won just one of their last five top-flight games, suffering defeat in the other four games in that run.
The Hornets record on home soil in the top-flight is pretty good, though, as Mazzarri’s side have claimed three wins in their last outings on home soil. Their home games have been goal-filled, though.
Mazzarri’s side have scored at least two goals in four of their last six league games at Vicarage Road. They have also conceded an average of 1.5 goals in their home Premier League games. The high-scoring does not stop there, though, as the Hornets have conceded two or more goals in eight of their last 12 home encounters with Palace.
Crystal Palace currently find themselves in the midst of a poor run of form and sit 17th in the table. The Eagles have won just one of their last 11 Premier League games and boss Alan Pardew yesterday paid for the team’s poor form by being sacked.
Although the Eagles have not been recording many wins, their recent away games have been highly entertaining. The visitors have scored two or more goals in their last three away games, including in a 3-3 draw at Hull in their last away outing in the league.
To add to the entertainment factor in their games the Eagles have also conceded two or more goals in seven of their last nine top-flight games.
Forebet predicts that there will over 2.5 goals scored in this clash and this game promises to be a highly-entertaining encounter.
