Another Easy Win for Man City Expected Against Brighton
Manchester City vs Brighton - 22/10/2022
2965
Manchester City are back at the Etihad Stadium this weekend as they welcome Brighton & Hove Albion to East Manchester with the champions eager to return to winning ways after a loss to rivals Liverpool last time out.
City were dealt their first loss of the season in all competitions when they were defeated by the Reds at Anfield. It was Mohamed Salah who scored the game’s only goal as City had a Phil Foden goal disallowed when Erling Haaland pulled on the shirt of Fabinho.
What’s more, despite having 15 goals already to his name in the Premier League, Haaland was pocketed throughout the game by Virgil van Dijk and never really got going.
City have now lost their unbeaten record, but here at home, nothing has stopped them from mauling everyone who heads to the Etihad with them winning all games so far on home soil.
In fact, prior to heading to Anfield, the Citizens smashed Manchester United 6-3, Copenhagen 5-0 and then Southampton 4-0 in back-to-back games, meaning they scored 15 goals in three games at home, conceding only three.
Pep Guardiola’s men are now trailing Arsenal by four points in the Premier League table after the loss to Liverpool, and a win here is a must if they are to keep on the tails of the north London outfit.
As for Brighton, they've struggled quite a bit ever since the departure of Graham Potter. In fact, with Roberto De Zerbi now at the helm, the Seagulls have failed to win a single game and have not scored a goal in their past three since that famous 3-3 draw at Anfield where Leandro Trossard bagged a hat-trick.
De Zerbi did show some qualities as a manager in that first game with Brighton, but ever since, things have looked quite bleak.
A 1-0 loss at home to Tottenham Hotspur would come, before a 2-0 loss to Brentford last weekend and a 0-0 draw with Nottingham Forest.
Nevertheless, his side still sit in the top half of the table by hanging onto eighth for now. They do also have a game in hand over Newcastle United in sixth and one over Fulham just below them in ninth.
If Brighton can return to a bit of form and start racking up the points once more, they could find themselves falling back into the European conversation. They have, however, looked a shadow of their former selves.
Forebet predicts another easy win for City here and for the game to see over 2.5 goals.
