Atalanta will be looking to extend their unbeaten start to the Serie A season when they welcome Fiorentina to the Gewiss Stadium on Sunday.

As we head into Matchday 8, Atalanta sit second in the table – level with first-place Napoli on 17 points and one point clear of third-place Udinese.

Meanwhile, Fiorentina find themselves tenth – five points clear of the relegation zone and eight points shy of Atalanta.

Atalanta remain unbeaten in the Serie A this season after claiming five wins and two draws in their opening seven clashes.

It is worth noting that Gian Piero Gasperini’s side boast the best defensive record in the division, having conceded a measly three goals this term.

Atalanta kept clean sheets in wins against Sampdoria, Hellas Verona, Monza and Roma. They also beat Torino, although they conceded once on that occasion.

Having made an eye-catching start to the campaign, Gasperini’s men will be confident of maintaining their unbeaten record this weekend.

On the flip side, Fiorentina have only managed to win two of their seven league outings this season – recording three draws and two defeats.

Fiorentina endured a five-game winless run between Matchday 2 and Matchday 6, registering three draws and two losses during that period.

However, they returned to winning ways before the international break with a 2-0 victory over Verona on home soil.

Given that Fiorentina have only managed to win one of their previous nine away games in Serie A, they aren’t likely to claim all three points on Sunday.

Head-to-head: The recent head-to-head record between Atalanta and Fiorentina is even, with both sides winning three of the past six meetings in all competitions.

Four of the last 11 Serie A meetings between Atalanta and Fiorentina have ended in a draw, meaning we could see a tight encounter this time around.

Team news: Atalanta could be without as many as eight first-team players this weekend, including the injured trio of Duvan Zapata, Davide Zappacosta and Merih Demiral.

Fiorentina have some notable injury absentees, too, with Gaetano Castrovilli, Nikola Milenkovic and Dodo expected to miss Sunday’s clash.

Granted, Atalanta have yet to taste defeat this term. But Fiorentina have drawn 43% of their Serie A games so far.

For that reason, Forebet predicts that Atalanta and Fiorentina will play out a low-scoring draw on Sunday.
