Sporting Cristal to Keep Their Liga 1 Hopes Alive With a Win Over Sport Boys
2886

The Peruvian Primera División continues this weekend as Club Sporting Cristal welcomes Sport Boys Association to the Alberto Gallardo Stadium as the home side look to rejuvenate their title hopes with their extra game in hand on those around them.

Sporting Cristal have played out 14 games in the league this year compared to the 15 of those around them, apart from Alianza Lima, who too have a game in hand.

At the same time, however, Sporting Cristal have won seven of their games so far and lost the league's fewest games with only two defeats registered.

This has also seen the club score an impressive 26 goals in the league to this date, which only second-placed title rivals, Sport Huancayo, can match.

Moreover, Their defensive record may need some improvement down the line if they are to keep up their attempts at challenging for the title once more, as Roberto Mosquera have let in an alarming 19 goals from 14 fixtures.

Mosquera will also be unhappy with the current form of his side too. Sporting Cristal have drawn their past two in Liga 1 since they beat Ayacucho 3-2 away from home, as they've also managed to lose to Flamengo 2-1 in the Copa Libertadores.

Christofer Gonzales would score once more for Los Cerveceros in the recent defeat to the Brazilian side on the continent.

As for Sport Boysf, things are much different for them as they are currently sitting 12th, and a great distance from their 2021 finish of fifth.

Ytalo Manzo's side have won just five of their 15 games to this point, losing a worrying seven and conceding the league's fifth-most amount of goals with 25 let in.

The club have also fallen back into the losing column in dramatic style recently, as they were demolished by Carlos Mannucci 4-1, not long after previously winning four of their last five games to rocket up the league.

Ayacucho, Atletico Grau, Cantolao, and Alianza Atletico were all on the end of defeats to Sport Boys in this time, as the club let in just two goals and scored six of their own.

It’s expected to be quite an easy day for Sporting Cristal, as they seem to have too much on their side as they challenge for the title again. Sport Boys need all the points they can get right now, and Forebet doesn’t expect them to get any here. Forebet predicts a win for the home side and the game to see over 2.5 goals.
