Brentford seeking fourth straight PL win versus Tottenham
5228

Brentford are on a brilliant run of form in the Premier League. Thomas Franks’ Bees won five of their last six games and each of their last three Premier League matches ended in victories.

The Bees are on pace to play Premier League football next season, although they are not mathematically safe as yet. On Saturday, Brentford will welcome Tottenham Hotspur to the Brentford Community Stadium for a London Derby.

Spurs are fresh off of a shock 1-0 home loss to Brighton. It was their second loss in six matches in the league. Tottenham are battling for the top four and are fighting Arsenal, Manchester United and West Ham for the final Champions League qualification spot.

Brentford are one of the Premier League’s form teams heading into the weekend. The Bees took 15 points from the last 18 points available. Only Liverpool did better in the last six Premier League fixtures.

The Bees are playing similarly to the way they started the season in all areas. They scored 14 goals and conceded five times to their last six opponents. The arrival of midfielder Christian Eriksen has completely changed the way Brentford play.

Eriksen, a former Tottenham star, has one goal and two assists in six appearances. He has scored or assisted a goal in three of his last four appearances for the team.

Spurs took 12 points from the last 18 points on offer in the league. The 1-0 loss to Brighton was another example of the inconsistency that Tottenham have had all season.

Tottenham outscored their last six opponents 16-6. Their last four wins were all strong victories that came against Brighton, West Ham, Aston Villa, and Newcastle United.

Since last season’s EFL Cup, Brentford and Tottenham have met twice in all competitions. Spurs won both fixtures by a combined 4-0 scoreline. The teams’ previous Premier League encounter this season finished 2-0 to Spurs.

Brentford’s Sergi Canos scored an own goal in the first half to give Spurs a halftime 1-0 lead. Heung-min Son doubled Spurs’ lead in the 65th minute.

Frank won’t have Canos available for Saturday following a hamstring injury. Midfielder Frank Onyeka is also unavailable due to injury. Joining Canos and Onyeka are Ethan Pinnock and Mathias Jorgensen. They too are ruled out through injury.

Antonio Conte will be without the trio of Japhet Tanganga, Matt Doherty, and Oliver Skipp. All three players are carrying injuries.

Saturday’s match is massive for Spurs. They need to win versus Brentford to keep pace with their top-four rivals. A victory should be secured in the end as Spurs continue their winning streak versus Brentford.
