Newcastle United will go in search of their third straight Premier League victory when Crystal Palace visit St. James’ Park on Wednesday night.

The two sides are locked on 37 points in the Premier League table, with thirteenth-place Crystal Palace (+3) leading fourteenth-place Newcastle (-19) on goal difference.

The Eagles will be looking to bounce back from their FA Cup semi-final loss to Chelsea at the weekend. Meanwhile, the Magpies will be buzzing after snatching a late win against Leicester City last time out.

On Sunday, Newcastle came from 1-0 down to beat the Foxes 2-1 – thanks to a brace from Bruno Guimaraes. The equalizer came on 30 minutes before the winner came deep into injury time.

Eddie Howe’s boys have now won each of their last two Premier League games, having dispatched Wolves 1-0. Better still, they have won five of their previous eight.

When you look at the bigger picture, Newcastle have lost just three of their past 14 Premier League outings – picking up eight wins and three draws along the way.

The Magpies have been especially strong on home soil of late, suffering a solitary defeat in their last 11 league matches at St. James’ Park.

As for Crystal Palace, they were beaten 2-0 by Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-finals on Sunday – despite holding the Blues until midway through the second half.

That means they head into Wednesday’s clash on the back of successive defeats, having lost 2-0 to Leicester in the Premier League earlier this month.

That said, the Eagles have lost just two of their previous nine outings in all competitions – securing five wins and two draws in the process.

It is worth noting, however, that Palace have struggled on their travels recently. Indeed, they have managed to win only three of their last 17 away games in the Premier League.

Head-to-head: Back in October, Crystal Palace and Newcastle played out a 1-1 draw at Selhurst Park in the reverse fixture.

Given that just one of the past ten Premier League games between Newcastle and Palace has dished up over 2.5 goals, a low-scoring encounter is on the cards this time around.

Team news: Newcastle will be without the injured quintet of Kieran Trippier, Callum Wilson, Ryan Fraser, Isaac Hayden and Jamal Lewis on Wednesday.

On the flip side, Crystal Palace have just one injury absentee at the moment as Nathan Ferguson continues his time on the sidelines.

Although Newcastle have improved dramatically since Eddie Howe arrived, Crystal Palace are tough to beat under Patrick Vieira.

With that in mind, Forebet predicts that Newcastle and Crystal Palace will play out a low-scoring draw on Wednesday.
