Real Madrid set for high-scoring victory over Sevilla

It’s third against first in La Liga on Sunday, as Sevilla welcome Real Madrid to the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium. Can Julen Lopetegui’s side chasers halt Los Blancos’ title charge?

Real Madrid sit 12 points clear of second-place Barcelona and third-place Sevilla. With only seven games remaining this season, Carlo Ancelotti’s men already have one hand on the La Liga trophy.

Meanwhile, Sevilla find themselves three-points ahead of fourth-place Atletico Madrid and four points ahead of fifth-place Real Betis.

Sevilla have lost just three of their 31 La Liga matches this season, picking up 16 wins and 12 draws along the way.

Only one side – eighteenth-place Cadiz – have registered more La Liga draws than Los Rojiblancos this season.

It is also worth noting that Sevilla boast the best defensive record in the Spanish top flight, having conceded just 22 goals in 31 games this term.

Thanks to a run of one loss in 17 league outings, Lopetegui’s boys are in pole position to claim a top-four finish.

Much of Sevilla’s recent success has come on home soil. Indeed, they have avoided defeat in each of their previous 17 home games in La Liga.

As for Real Madrid, they head into Sunday’s clash on the back of a 3-2 loss to Chelsea. However, they advanced to the UCL semi-finals thanks to a 5-4 aggregate victory.

In La Liga, Los Blancos have lost just three of their 31 matches this season – securing 22 wins and six draws in the process.

With 61 goals to their name (2.03 goals per game), Carlo Ancelotti’s men are the top scorers in the division.

Having lost just eight of their previous 70 matches across all competitions, Real Madrid will be confident of getting the better of Sevilla.

Head-to-head: Sevilla have failed to win any of their past six La Liga meetings with Real Madrid, suffering five losses along the way.

To make matters worse for Sevilla, Los Blancos have scored over 1.5 goals in four of their previous six games against Los Rojiblancos.

Team news: Sevilla look set to be without the injured quintet of Suso, Fernando, Karim Rekik, Marcos Acuna, and Thomas Delaney on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid are likely to travel to Seville without the injured trio of Eden Hazard, Jesus Vallejo and Isco.

Although Sevilla have pushed Real Madrid close this season, Los Blancos are expected to flex their muscles on Sunday.

Forebet predicts that Real Madrid will score over 2.5 goals on their way to dispatching Sevilla.
