Spurs to see off Seagulls in lunchtime clash
7549

Tottenham will be hoping that they can be one of the two north London clubs not to succumb to Brighton in this Saturday’s lunchtime encounter at their Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and in turn rack up a fifth league win on the trot in the Premier League.

Having had to endure an indifferent period of results in the English top flight, Spurs managed to pick up just three wins in their preceding eight games.

The north London hosts have since staged something of an impressive recovery by winning each of their subsequent four games on the bounce.

Wins against Brighton (2-0 away), West Ham, Newcastle United and Aston Villa have not only handed Tottenham the maximum 12-point haul in their last four games but has also seen Spurs score a total of 14 goals into the bargain as well.

Having won their last three home games on the trot as well, scoring 15 goals in the process, Antonio Conte’s side will be in confident mood ahead of this clash while the likes of forwards, Son (17 goals) and Kane (12 goals) will be eager to add to their respective goalscoring tallies.

Spurs are expected to be without the services of defenders, Doherty and Tanganga (knee injuries) along with midfielder Skipp (groin).

Brighton will be without influential midfielder, Moder, due to a knee injury.

Brighton will be hoping that lightning can strike twice as they make their way to the nation’s capital again this weekend to take on Tottenham following last weekend’s 2-1 win at Arsenal which ended a miserable run of seven league games without a win.

Indeed, Brighton had previously lost six of these preceding seven games and were drifting further down the Premier League table until last weekend’s surprise victory, but it should be noted that The Seagulls have only won two of their last 12 games overall in the top flight.

In addition, Brighton have mustered only three victories on their travels in their last 13 games on the road which came in the shape of wins at Everton, Watford and Arsenal but the draw has featured most prominently when the south coast visitors hit the road.

Brighton’s last 13 away games consist of no fewer than seven stalemates but opponents, Tottenham, have produced free-scoring displays of late and you have to feel that Spurs are likely to outscore Brighton in this one.
