Villarreal and Athletic Club Set for a Another Tight Draw in La Liga
2061

In the wake of yet another stunning Champions League night for Villarreal, they will play host to Athletic Club at the Estadio de la Cerámica this Saturday as seventh meets eighth in La Liga.

Unai Emery’s men stunned Europe once again when they reigned supreme over Bundesliga champions, Bayern Munich, in midweek.

It was another goal from Arnaut Danjuma that night, as they now have a one-goal lead to take with them to Germany in less than a week's time.

This also came after a stunning 3-0 victory in Turin in the round of 16 to set up that tie with Bayern, which was in fact their first-ever clash within the last eight of the Champions League.

Back in La Liga, however, their form has dropped a little and they have seen their attempts to get back into the top six fumble a little bit in recent weeks.

Stunningly, despite beating Germany's top side, Villarreal have lost back-to-back games to two of Spain's worst sides, Cadiz and Levante.

Both them sides are fighting relegation in La Liga right now, and their rare wins against a top side have meant the 1-0 win over Celta Vigo is all Villarreal can boast within the past month in Spain.

Emery’s men have now also not scored in their past two games in the league, and let in three goals within the same time.

Nevertheless, they sit one point ahead of Athletic Club ahead of this one and a victory would keep them comfortably in seventh and just on the heels of sixth-placed Real Sociedad.

They still boast of 12 wins in 30 games in the league this season, as they have lost nine and drawn nine too.

It is, however, their typical Emery-esque defensive brilliance that has kept them in the top seven ahead of this one. The club have conceded just 29 goals so far in La Liga, but this is the same amount as their opposition here.

Marcelino García Toral also returned to the winning column last weekend as they defeated Elche thanks to goals from Alejandro Remiro and Asier Villalibre.

It put them on just 35 goals for the league season, however, and goals continue to be hard to come by for Athletic Club. Now, in their trip to the Estadio de la Cerámica, they are not expected to be a part of a game that sees that many goals.

Forebet predicts a game of under 2.5 goals here and for the game to be a draw.
