Fourth-place Juventus find themselves just a single point behind third-place Inter Milan as the two rivals prepare do battle in Turin on Sunday night.
With first-place AC Milan sitting six points ahead of Inter, the result of Sunday’s Derby d’Italia looks set to have a big impact on the Serie A title race.
Although Inter have a game in hand over the visitors, Max Allegri’s men are on a seemingly unstoppable unbeaten streak at the moment.
Indeed, Juventus have avoided defeat in each of their previous 16 Serie A outings – picking up 11 wins and five draws along the way.
When you look at the bigger picture, they have lost just one of their 19 league matches since October – securing 13 victories in the process.
It is also worth noting that Juve head into Sunday’s clash on a four-game winning streak in Serie A, having dispatched Empoli, Spezia, Sampdoria and Salernitana before the international break.
Despite their recent dominance, each of Juventus’ previous ten home games in Serie A have produced under 2.5 goals.
Meanwhile, Inter have taken a turn for the worse of late – winning just one of their last seven league encounters.
Given that Simone Inzaghi’s men lost just one of their opening 22 Serie A games this season, their recent form is a cause for concern.
Still, it is worth pointing out that Inter have avoided defeat in each of their previous nine away games in Italy’s top tier.
The reigning champions also boast the second-best defensive record in Serie A, so they will be confident of defending their crown come May.
Head-to-head: Three of the previous four meetings between Inter and Juventus have ended in a draw, with each game dishing up under 2.5 goals.
Inter have failed to win any of their last five meetings with Juve across all competitions, recording three draws and two losses in that time.
Team news: Juventus look set to be without the injured quintet of Weston McKennie, Kaio Jorge, Denis Zakaria, Marley Ake and Federico Chiesa on Sunday.
As for Inter, they will be missing centre-back Stefan de Vrij and midfielder Marcelo Brozovic for the trip to Turin.
With so much at stake, this is destined to be a tense and cagey affair. Let’s not forget that three of the past four meetings between Juve and Inter have ended all-square.
Forbest predicts that Juventus and Inter will play out a low-scoring draw on Sunday.
