Real Madrid will be looking to maintain their La Liga title bid when they face Celta Vigo at Abanca-Balaídos on Saturday afternoon.

Los Blancos find themselves nine points clear of second-place Sevilla with nine games left this season. It is also worth noting that Carlo Ancelotti’s side are 12 points ahead of third-place Barcelona.

Meanwhile, Celta Vigo occupy eleventh place – 12 points outside the European spots and a whopping 30 points behind Real Madrid.

Celta have managed to win just nine of their 29 La Liga matches this season, meaning only seven teams in the division have picked up fewer victories.

They head into Saturday’s clash on a poor run of just one win in six games across all competitions, having beaten Mallorca 4-3 in early March.

That said, Celta Vigo have impressed on home soil of late – avoiding defeat in each of their last six home games in La Liga.

When you look at the bigger picture, Celta have lost just one of their previous nine home encounters in all competitions.

On the flip side, Real Madrid have lost just three of their 29 La Liga games this season – securing 20 wins and six draws along the way.

Not only are Los Blancos the top scorers in the division (59), but they also boast the second-best defensive record (25).

Ancelotti’s men were enjoying a four-game winning streak before they suffered a humiliating 4-0 thrashing to Clasico rivals Barcelona just before the international break.

Having lost only two of their previous 21 league outings, however, Real Madrid will be confident of returning to winning ways this weekend.

Head-to-head: Real Madrid have won each their last three La Liga matches against Celta Vigo and claimed a 5-2 victory in the reverse fixture back in September.

It is also worth pointing out that Los Blancos are currently enjoying an 11-game unbeaten streak against Celta.

Team news: Having netted 13 goals in 29 La Liga games this term, it’s safe to say that Iago Aspas is Celta’s danger man. Fortunately, Celta don’t have any injury concerns at the moment.

As for Real Madrid, they look set to be without the injured trip of Eden Hazard, Ferland Mendy and Karim Benzema on Saturday.

Following the heavy defeat to Barcelona before the international break, Real Madrid will be eager to get back on track this weekend.

With that in mind, Forebet predicts that Real Madrid will score over 2.5 goals and keep a clean sheet on their way to beating Celta.
