Brighton seeking end to five-match losing streak versus Spurs
5290

Brighton are on a downward spiral in the Premier League. The Seagulls, praised highly in the first half of the season for their performances, are on a five-match losing streak in the league.

The Seagulls are 13th in the division and could still find themselves in a relegation battle if results do not improve quickly. On Wednesday night, Brighton will meet Tottenham Hotspur at the Amex Stadium.

Tottenham Hotspur are fresh off of a 3-2 loss to Manchester United at Old Trafford. The Antonio Conte bounce ended weeks ago and Spurs are struggling to get enough points to finish in the top four.

Spurs are eighth in the division and six points off of fourth-place Arsenal in the race for Champions League qualification. Tottenham do have two games in hand, but with the way they have been playing, there is no guarantee they will pick up those six points.

The home team is unbeaten in six straight matches between these teams. In the reverse fixture, Spurs won 3-1 courtesy of two goals from Harry Kane on either side of a Solly March own goal. Spurs were winning at halftime and at full-time during the fixture.

Kane is certainly one to watch on Wednesday night. The Spurs striker is in fantastic form having scored four goals in his last three Premier League matches. Kane now has 11 Premier League goals in 26 matches this campaign.

Conte has no serious injuries but will be without Ryan Sessegnon, Oliver Skipp and Japhet Tanganga for the match. His counterpart, Graham Potter is without the often-injured Adam Lallana and Adam Webster.

Brighton lost each of their last five league games. Four of those five matches finished as losses to nil. For all the praise that Potter receives, he still hasn’t figure out how to get the team to score goals.

The Seagulls have scored the league’s third-fewest goals with just 26 from 28 games. Meanwhile, the defence has conceded 34 times.

Brighton have won their last two matches at the Amex versus Spurs. Both matches ended as wins to nil for the Seagulls. This time around, Brighton are in atrocious form and Spurs should benefit from it.

Tottenham are coming off of a 3-2 loss to Manchester United. With a poor record against Brighton away, Wednesday’s fixture should finish as a score draw between these Premier League rivals. The match should finish with under 2.5 goals scored.
