On Tuesday, Bolivia welcome Chile to La Paz as the South American section of 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying nears its end.

Bolivia find themselves eighth in the standings – two points clear of ninth-place Paraguay and five points ahead of last-place Venezuela.

On the flip side, Chile are sitting in seventh place – one point clear of Bolivia and four points shy of the top four.

With just four automatic qualification spots, as well as a further play-off place, both Bolivia and Chile are in danger of missing out on the showpiece in Qatar.

There are only three games remaining in the qualifying campaign, meaning both sides must end on a high in order to punch their ticket to the World Cup.

Bolivia have managed to win just four of their 15 qualifiers, registering three draws and losses along the way.

Only last-place Venezuela have lost more games than Bolivia. Funnily enough, Venezuela thrashed Bolivia 4-1 on Friday.

Although Bolivia are the fourth-highest scorers in the group, they have the worst defensive record – having conceded a whopping 32 goals in 15 outings.

Chile have also won four of their 15 qualifiers, recording four draws and seven defeats across a disappointing campaign.

Across October and November, Chile notched three consecutive wins in qualifying. However, they head into Tuesday’s clash on the back of two straight losses.

When you look at the bigger picture, Chile have lost just two of their last seven outings in all competitions – sealing four wins and a draw in the process.

That said, they have only managed to win four of their previous 14. They can’t expect to reach Qatar with that kind of record.

Head-to-head: Bolivia have won just seven of their 48 meetings with Chile since the nations first clashed all the way back in 1926.

More recently, Chile have lost only one of their past 16 matches against Bolivia – claiming 11 wins along the way.

Team news: Bolivia will be without suspended midfielder Leonel Justiniano on Tuesday following his red card in the defeat to Venezuela.

Chile will be hoping that Ben Brereton Diaz can maintain his scoring streak. The Blackburn Rovers striker has netted three goals in his last four international appearances.

Having won three of their previous five qualifiers, Bolivia will fancy their chances of beating Chile on home soil.

Forebet predicts that Bolivia will edge out Chile on Tuesday, keeping a clean sheet on their way to sealing a low-scoring victory.
