Just four points separate Inter and Milan as the two rivals prepare to go head-to-head at the San Siro on Saturday.

Inter are sitting pretty at the top of the Serie A table – four points clear of second-place Napoli – having lost just one of their 22 league games this season.

Milan, on the other hand, find themselves level with Napoli on 49 points. It is also worth noting that Inter have a game in hand over Milan.

Not only have Inter suffered just a single Serie A defeat this term, but they have also picked up 16 wins along the way.

The Nerazzurri are the highest scorers in the league, too, having netted 53 goals in 22 games. That means they’re averaging 2.4 goals per game.

Simone Inzaghi’s side have been especially strong at home recently, winning each of their previous seven home matches in Serie A.

Looking at the wider picture, Inter have avoided defeat in each of their last 28 home games in Italy’s top tier.

On the flip side, Milan have lost four of their 23 league matches this season – picking up 15 wins and four draws in the process.

That said, they head into Saturday’s clash on a two-game winless run. After losing to Spezia, they drew with Juventus last time out.

When you look at the bigger picture, however, Milan have only lost three of their previous 30 away games in Serie A.

Having scored at least one goal in each of their last 14 away games in the league, they will be confident of hitting the target on Saturday.

Head-to-head: Inter are currently enjoying a three-match unbeaten streak against Milan, having picked up two wins and a draw since their last loss in this fixture.

Believe it or not, Milan have only managed to win one of their previous 13 meetings with Inter across all competitions.

Team news: New Inter signing Robin Gosens will miss Saturday’s clash through injury, joining Joaquin Correa on the sidelines.

As for Milan, Simon Kjaer, Fikayo Tomori, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Franck Kessie are all injured. Elsewhere, Fode Ballo-Toure is way at AFCON with Senegal.

When you couple Inter’s current form with their recent record against Milan, all the signs point towards a Nerazzurri win.

Forebet predicts that Inter will score over 1.5 goals on their way to overcoming Milan.
