A Stunning Game Set to Take Place Between Strasbourg and Montpellier in Ligue 1
2797

Ligue 1 is set to continue this weekend as Strasbourg play hosts to Montpellier in the French top flight with very little separating either side and therefore making it one of the games to watch this weekend over in France.

In reality, Paris Saint-Germain have had one hand on the league title for months already and despite their dropped points here and there, Ligue 1 seems to be there yet again, and attention has subsequently been aimed towards the incredible battle for the European spots instead.

As of now, Montpellier have it well within their grasp to get into the top four in what is one of their best seasons in Ligue 1 since they won the title a decade ago.

The club are currently on 31 points from 19 games in the league thus far and this is the same as the high-flying Rennes in fourth. However, Montpellier's goal difference is a little bit behind due to Rennes' exceptional defensive records.

La Paillade do have a game in hand though, and should they win this, they will rocket themselves into fourth place and be just on the heels of Marseille in third.

A third and second-placed battle seems a little unlikely due to the form of Marseille and Nice, but nevertheless, Montpellier have laid down their marker on Ligue 1 this season and they remain one of the highest scoring sides.

For Strasbourg, however, they remain a little bit behind the top four race in the league table, but on points, a couple of wins will throw them right into the mixer.

As of now, the club sit eighth, but just like Montpellier, their game in hand could spice things up tremendously in the top four race, and force them to overtake Lens and Monaco above them and even overtake Montpellier if other results go their way.

What has caught the eye more than anything from Strasbourg this season is their goals record. Le Racing have 36 goals already from just 19 games, and this is only bettered by the attacking force of PSG, while they have also played a game extra.

Normally this would result in a poor defensive record for those outside the top spots, but Strasbourg have only let in 24 goals, which is the same as their opponent's here.

WIth all the goals from either side this season (69 scored), Forebet predicts a high-scoring clash here and a win for Montpellier that will see over 2.5 goals.
