On Wednesday night, London rivals Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur meet for the first leg of their EFL Cup semi-final at Stamford Bridge.

As it stands, the two sides are separated by ten points in the Premier League table – with second-place Chelsea leading sixth-place Tottenham.

Both teams are enjoying decent unbeaten streaks at the moment, meaning Wednesday’s clash is destined to be a close-fought encounter.

Chelsea head into this one on the back of a dramatic 2-2 draw with Liverpool. The Blues found themselves 2-0 down inside 26 minutes but managed to draw level before half-time.

Thomas Tuchel’s men enjoyed 56% possession and racked up 15 shots on Sunday. They can count themselves unfortunate to have come away with only a point.

Sunday’s draw means Chelsea have picked up two wins and four draws from their previous six Premier League games.

In the EFL Cup, the Blues got past Aston Villa and Southampton before beating Brentford to book their place in the last four.

As for Tottenham, they claimed a 1-0 victory over Watford on New Year’s Day – with Davinson Sanchez scoring the only goal of the game in the 96th minute.

Antonio Conte’s side are now enjoying an eight-match unbeaten streak in the Premier League, having sealed five wins and three draws since their last loss.

It is also worth noting that Spurs have kept five clean sheets across their past eight league outings, underlining their new-found defensive solidity under Conte.

Tottenham secured their spot in the EFL Cup semi-finals with victories over Wolves, Burnley and most recently West Ham.

Head-to-head: When these two sides met at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium back in September, Chelsea secured an easy 3-0 victory.

Spurs have only managed to win one of their last eight meetings with Chelsea in all competitions, recording a draw and six losses in the process.

Team news: Reece James, Andreas Christensen, Romelu Lukaku, Timo Werner and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are all doubts for Chelsea. Ben Chilwell looks set to miss the rest of the season.

On the flip side, Tottenham will be without the injured trio of Cristian Romero, Ryan Sessegnon and Stevn Bergwijn on Wednesday.

Given Tottenham’s recent revival under Conte, the visitors look set to frustrate the hosts at Stamford Bridge.

With that in mind, Forebet predicts that Chelsea and Spurs will play out a low-scoring draw on Wednesday.
