Real Madrid to continue long unbeaten streak versus Getafe in La Liga

Real Madrid are on a 16-match unbeaten run versus Getafe and on Sunday, Los Blancos head to the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez to take on their local rival once more.

Carlo Ancelotti’s team is in first place heading into La Liga matchday 20. Real Madrid tasted defeat just once in their opening 19 matches of the domestic campaign. Getafe’s task is difficult but last season, the Parakeets did manage a nil-nil draw versus Real Madrid at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez

Since returning to the club for a third spell in November, Quique Sanchez Flores has improved Getafe’s results. The Parakeets are 16th in La Liga’s standings and are unbeaten in five straight games. Still, Getafe are only outside the relegation zone courtesy of goal difference.

Real Madrid are La Liga’s in-form team. Los Blancos secured 16 points from the last 18 points available in the league. They outscored their last six opponents 9-2.

Getafe picked up nine points from the last 18 points available to them in La Liga. They scored a mere six goals in the last six games. The attack has been poor all season long for Getafe with just 12 total goals. It is the lowest goals total in all of La Liga.

On Sunday, Getafe will play the league’s best-scoring team, Real Madrid. Los Blancos have bagged 41 goals. Only Sevilla’s defence has been better than Real Madrid’s. Ancelotti’s team has conceded just 16 times. Real Madrid have kept 11 clean sheets in all competitions.

Flores could be without up to four players through injuries this weekend. Jorge Cuenca is a doubt with a muscle injury. Meanwhile, the trio of Chema, Jose Juan Macias, and Sabit Abduai are all major doubts to make the squad.

Ancelotti has had several players test positive for COVID-19 this week. There has been a major outbreak across La Liga with a number of teams dealing with positive COVID-19 cases.

Eduardo Camavinga, Vinicius Jr, Federico Valverde, Thibault Courtois, and Sergio Arribas all tested positive for the virus and will miss the match. In addition, Dani Ceballos, Dani Carvajal, and David Alaba are all unlikely to play due to their own injury woes.

Despite Ancelotti’s missing players, he has the ability to call up a number of exceptional stars. Karim Benzema leads La Liga with 15 goals and the Frenchman will be available.

Real Madrid are unbeaten in 16 straight matches against Getafe. On Sunday, they should move to 17-matches unbeaten with a win to nil against La Liga’s worst-scoring team.
