On Sunday, Montpellier welcome Strasbourg to Stade de la Mosson for an all-Ligue 1 clash in the last 32 of the Coupe de France.

The two sides are separated by five points and five places in the Ligue 1 table, with tenth-place Strasbourg trailing fifth-place Montpellier.

Not only are Montpellier five points ahead of Strasbourg, but they also find themselves just two points behind second-place Nice.

They are enjoying a solid campaign, having won nine of their 19 league matches. They have recorded four draws and six losses along the way.

It is worth noting that Montpellier headed into the winter break on a four-game winning streak in Ligue 1.

They beat Metz, Clermont, Brest and Angers before the shutdown, scoring a whopping 12 goals in the process.

Thanks to a 1-0 victory over Andrezieux-Boutheon in the previous round, Montpellier have not lost any of their previous six Coupe de France clashes inside 90 minutes.

Strasbourg also claimed a 1-0 win to book their spot in the last 32, seeing off Ligue 2 side Valenciennes just before the winter break.

As a result, they have lost just one of their last eight games in all competitions – picking up four wins and three draws along the way.

When you look at the bigger picture, Strasbourg have only lost two of their previous 11 encounters – registering five wins and four draws in the process.

Following a relatively slow start to the season, Julien Stephan’s men appear to be growing into the campaign.

Head-to-head: Montpellier are currently enjoying a five-game unbeaten streak against Strasbourg, having picked up four wins and a draw since their last loss.

In fact, Strasbourg have only managed to win one of their last 11 meetings with Montpellier across all competitions.

Team news: Montpellier return from the winter break without any injury worries. Stephy Mavididi and Teji Savanier have bagged six goals apiece so far this term.

As for Strasbourg, they will be without forward Lebo Mothiba as he continues to recover from a knee injury.

Although Montpellier sit above Strasbourg in the Ligue 1 table, Strasbourg head into Sunday's clash on the back of several positive results.

With that in mind, Forebet predicts that Strasbourg will claim a slender win over Montpellier – keeping a clean sheet in the process.
