The battle for European places in Ligue One could be a highly intriguing one this season. Two of the teams who look like major contenders for continental football next season, Nice and Lens met at the Allianz Riviera on Wednesday night.

Lens have been poor travellers of late in the French top-flight, as they have failed to win in their previous five away games in the league, having suffered four defeats in the process.
