Title-chasing Sevilla tipped to dispatch languishing Barcelona

There are two La Liga games taking place this Tuesday, one of which sees high-flying Sevilla host struggling Barcelona at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium.

Barcelona find themselves outside the top six, having taken just 27 points from a possible 51 this season.

As for Sevilla, they sit second in the standings – ten points clear of Barcelona. They are currently viewed as Real Madrid’s main title challenger.

Goals from Ivan Rakitic and Lucas Ocampos saw Sevilla claim a hugely impressive 2-1 victory over Atletico Madrid on Saturday.

Julen Lopetegui’s men have now won each of their previous three La Liga games, keeping two clean sheets along the way.

Not only have Sevilla lost one of their last ten league matches, but they have also suffered just two defeats in 17 league outings this term.

Better still, Sevilla boast the best defensive record in the division – having conceded 12 goals throughout the campaign.

Meanwhile, Barcelona head into Tuesday’s clash on the back of a topsy-turvy win over Elche on Saturday.

After racing into a 2-0 lead inside 19 minutes, Barca conceded two goals in two second-half minutes before Nico Gonzalez secured a 3-2 victory for his side.

It is worth noting, however, that Barcelona enjoyed 74% possession and chalked up 19 shots – eight of which were on target.

Barca have lost just one of their previous seven La Liga matches, securing three wins and three draws in the process.

Yet, when you look at the bigger picture, they have only managed to win seven of their 17 league games this season.

There is no denying that Barca have improved under Xavi, but they still have a lot of work to do before they can challenge the top teams in La Liga again.

Head-to-head: Not only have Sevilla managed to win one of their past eight meetings with Barca in all competitions, but they have also won just two of their previous 20.

It is also worth pointing out that only one of the last 18 matches between Sevilla and Barcelona has produced under 1.5 goals.

Team news: Sevilla will be without the injured duo of Erik Lamela, Jesus Navas and Suso for the visit of Barcelona.

As for Barca, they have Martin Braithwaite, Memphis Depay, Sergino Dest, Ansu Fati, Pedri, Sergi Roberto and Moussa Wague sidelined through injury.

Not only are Sevilla ten points clear of Barcelona, but they have also won each of their last three La Liga games – conceding just a single goal in the process.

With that in mind, Forebet predicts that Sevilla will edge out Barca on Tuesday. Both teams are likely to score, but Sevilla are expected to come out on top.
